Soul Sisters Blow My Mind And I Don’t Need Nothing Else!!!

by Bro. Mxolisi

Golden honey,

creamy dark chocolate,

sparkling in the sun;

Or poured into some hip-hugging pants

‘til they nearly overrun.

Tender, sweet, nectar meat

gathered up in twin cups.

Oh, my soul, mercy me,

some overflow the top.

Soul Sisters blow my mind.

Soul Sisters do it all the time.

Soul Sisters blow my mind.

And I don’t need nothing else.

Thru the valleys and the shadows

What a power she has been;

The eternal flame of diligence

Always burning deep within.

Tenderness and toughness

her soul is always brewing,

For the many victories

that we must be pursuing.

Soul Sisters blow my mind.

Soul Sisters do it all the time.

Soul Sisters blow my mind.

And I don’t need nothing else.

I look into her smiling face,

I see Mother Africa smiling back at me.

And I laugh when I think of how I low-rated her,

Before my own Black set me free!

Soul Sisters blow my mind.  Soul Sisters do it all the time.

Soul Sisters blow my mind.  And I don’t need nothing else.

I don’t need no wine or weed,

I don’t need no crack or speed;

No snow white powder

Sucking life outa me.

The beauty of her heart,

The depth of her mind,

The spirit of her soul,

Her body one with mine . . .

Soul Sisters . . . blow my mind . . .

And I don’t need nothing else!!!

The foregoing was posted in response to the following white supremacy ignorance, insanity and hate:

“Why Are Black Women Ugly?” That was the original title of a Psychology Today (PT) online article posted by so-called evolutionary psychologist Satoshi Kanazawa (May 15, 2011). Word of the article spread quickly across the Internet, raising a firestorm of criticisms and protests. PT took a look and decided to do the magnanimous thing — change the title! They came up with, “Why Are Black Women Less Physically Attractive Than Other Women?” (M#%”Fx^=!!!) When that failed to put out the fire they tried, “Why Are Black Women Less Physically Attractive Than Other Women, But Black Men Are Rated Better Looking Than Other Men?” (M#%”Fx^=!!! Again!) The firestorm continued, leading PT to finally remove the post all together. PT later explained that certain certified scientists are allowed to post articles on their site without prior review or approval, seeking to absolve themselves of any wrongdoing in the matter.

The goal of evolutionary psychology is to study human behavior as the product of evolved psychological mechanisms that depend on internal and environmental input for their development, activation, and expression in manifest behavior, according to a U. of Texas, Austin article. With that being the case, we are left to understand Kanazawa, a professor on the staff at the London School of Economics, to be asserting that the internal and environmental dynamics of the evolutionary process have led humanity to the perception that Black women are ugly.

The “attractiveness data” used by Kanazwa came from footnotes that interviewers were directed to add to a broad-ranging, 14 year Add Health survey. The survey involved over 8000 variables of the mental, physical, social, economic and educational dynamics of a representative sampling of the U.S. youth population, tracking them from adolescence into adulthood, including more than 75,000 in-home interviews.

Incredibly!!! at the end of each interview, the interviewers, as instructed, rated the physical attractiveness of the participants “objectively” on the following five-point scale: 1 = very unattractive, 2 = unattractive, 3 = about average, 4 = attractive, 5 = very attractive. This “objective” measurement was taken in this fashion three times by three different interviewers over seven years. (Add Health, what the hell . . .?)

Three days after Kanazawa’s article appeared another firestorm arose, with the University of London Union Senate, the Union’s legislative body representing over 120,000 students, voting unanimously in favor of calling for a campaign for Kanazawa’s dismissal, for flawed research and unscientific bigotry, among other things.

Additionally, an article in the ‘Scientific American’ debunked Kanazawa’s claim by conducting an independent analysis of the same data which he had used in his own ugly self-fulfilling way. Their study showed that Kanazawa used false statements to come to his conclusion. Further, the article revealed that Kanazawa only used the part of the study related to the attractiveness of young girls to concoct his assertions about Black women!!!

(For a comprehensive analysis of Kanazawa’s “science” see: — which includes the following: Kanazawa claims to be only interested in the “hard” truths on human nature. And the truth of the matter is: As adults, Black Women in North America are not rated less attractive by interviewers of the Add health study, which is one of the most nationally representative samples ever available for investigation.)

In the process of stewing over this stuff a couple of things came to mind:

1) Drapetomania, which was said to be a mental illness that caused our enslaved ancestors to run away from captivity, was described by American physician Samuel A. Cartwright in 1851, in a paper delivered before the Medical Association of Louisiana that was widely reprinted. He said this condition developed when the enslaved got the idea that they were just as good and deserving of humane treatment as anyone else, and for the sake of “humanity and their own good . . .  they should be punished until they fall into that submissive state which was intended for them to occupy. They have only to be kept in that state, and treated like children to prevent and cure them from running away.” The ounce of prevention prescribed by Dr. Cartwright for those showing signs of falling into that state of mental illness was “whipping the devil out of them.”

This reflection came in the wake of reading Kanazawa’s note that the Add Health data showed that Black women and Black men “subjectively consider themselves to be far more physically attractive than others,” over and above the “objective” judgments of others to the contrary. Perhaps his article was his effort at “whipping the devil out of them.”

2) A humanities class, late 1960’s — as cyberspace was coming into popular being: In a study considered to be of significance at that time, a computer was asked to list the characteristics of the world’s most beautiful people. Of course, the racist, garbage-in-garbage-out answer was “blond/blue,” etc., etc. It leaves one wondering about the garbage that the evolutionary process has dumped into the space of Kanazawa’s personal computational facilities, as well as Add Health’s motives in requiring the attractiveness rating.

At any rate, it is infinitely true that those of us who have undergone the heart-soul-mind-spirit transformations that NTR-Neteru-Orisha-Ancestral infusions bring and have come to our divine-cultural consciousness and self-perception cannot believe that we ever saw beauty of any sort that is superior to the radiant, life-lifting, divinely-given beauty embodied in African women!!! Men too!!!

Only those who are (still) under the spell of eurocentricity (RACISM!) can hold on to the sickness it generates, and fail to appreciate the beauty embodied in African women and men. Beauty which is both skin deep and soul-centered!!! That beauty is purpose, substance, self-knowledge and vision that make the world go ’round or stop in its tracks; that makes hearts and hormones sizzle!!! NTR have mercy!!!
